Hearing Set for Doctor Accused of Stalking Shania Twain

A Canadian physician will appear in court Friday (April 1) in Toronto after being arrested for stalking Shania Twain at Sunday night’s (March 27) Juno Awards. Dr. John Palumbo, 50, of Ottawa was arrested outside Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, where Twain was being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the annual awards show. Criminal harassment charges against Palumbo had been dropped during a March 7 hearing after Twain, who resides in Switzerland, did not show up in court to testify against him. As part of the legal agreement, the judge issued an order prohibiting Palumbo from going within 500 yards of Twain. Friday’s hearing will center around his alleged violation of the court order. According to Canadian media reports, Palumbo has had a long-standing delusional obsession with the singer.
