OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood Has No Pull With NHL

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

In this Q&A with the Orange County Register newspaper in Santa Ana, Calif., Carrie Underwood admits she’s moody, talks about how Simon Cowell is the reason she has a thicker skin, says the Grand Ole Opry is like church and then gets around to the topic of her husband Mike Fisher’s recent trade from the Ottawa Senators hockey team to the Nashville Predators. “It was tough at first because everybody in Ottawa hates me. My friends were asking me how I pulled it off. I swear I had nothing to do with it. How much pull do you think I have in the NHL?” she asks. “Actually, I was impressed that people thought I had that kind of power.” As for her new movie, Soul Surfer, out tomorrow (April 8), she told the newspaper, “My first love is music. That’s what I do. But I do get a lot of scripts, some of which have gone on to win awards, but they weren’t right for me. This was a special project.”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
