OFFSTAGE: Big Kenny, Jaron Share "Beautiful Lies"

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

With the sarcastically bittersweet "Pray for You," Jaron Lowenstein found success with his newfound love for country music. So when he recently met Kenny Alphin (the "Big" of Big & Rich) and told him about an idea for a song called "Beautiful Lies," it was like Alphin read his mind. He grabbed a guitar and started singing what became the guts of the chorus: "Lie to me, lie to me." When you hear the two of them harmonizing on this new tune, you'll think they've been singing together for years. "In nearly every songwriting session there is one person who leads and the other person(s) follow and play a more supportive role. Big Kenny was the driver on this one, and I love that I have been able to add a piece of his stylings to my performance," Lowenstein said. "All artists are an amalgamation of the artists they love. ... I'm happy to add some more Big Kenny to my mix." He also said the two artists share a "passion for music, a love of people and a penchant for good wine." Now that Big & Rich are not as active as they used to be, Alphin may have time for more collaborations like this one. He loves everyone, remember?
