Chely Wright, Fiancée Attend Documentary Screening

Chely Wright and her fiancée, gay activist Lauren Blitzer, attended a sold-out screening in Nashville of Wish Me Away, a new documentary that tells the story of Wright coming out a lesbian. The screening at the Nashville Film Festival on Friday evening (April 15) was also attended by filmmakers Bobbie Birleffi and Beverly Kopf, as well as several people who appeared in the film, including record producer Tony Brown, Rodney Crowell, country music historian Don Cusic, radio personality Blair Garner, manager Russell Carter and best friend Chuck Walter. Wright also pointed out several of her friends in the audience, including Carolyn Dawn Johnson and members of the vocal group SHeDAISY. The film was also screened at the festival on Sunday afternoon. Wright, who had a No. 1 hit with "Single White Female" in 1999, and Blitzer are scheduled to wed in Connecticut on Aug. 20.
