Grand Ole Opry Marks Flood Anniversary

The Grand Ole Opry will mark the one-year anniversary of the devastating Nashville flood on May 3 with performances by Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Charlie Daniels Band and Brad Paisley. The flood struck the city in early May 2010 and forced the Opry to relocate to several locations due to extensive water damage. The renovated venue reopened with an all-star performance in September. Tickets for the May 3 show purchased with a code provided by area charities — including Hands On Nashville, American Red Cross and United Way of Middle Tennessee — will prompt a $10 donation to those organizations. “It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since the flood,” Bentley said. “The city of Nashville, the Opry and the country music community were so resilient and came together to rebuild so quickly after the devastation. I’ve never been more proud to be an Opry member, and I’m looking forward to celebrating that sense of community again on Tuesday.”
