It’s all about the voice, say the promoters of the aptly named singing competition show The Voice. And Blake Shelton, a coach on the show, says he likes how this competition takes good looks (and good bodies) out of the equation. “You know, somebody will come on TV singing and you’re like, ‘Oh my God! I mean, they suck! You know, who signed them?’ Well, it’s just because she’s good lookin’, or it’s because he’s takin’ his shirt off and he’s muscley or something, or else he wouldn’t have gotten his chance,” Shelton said in a recent radio interview. This show, he says, eliminates all of that. “Not to say that a lot of the people that got picked aren’t really good lookin’, normal people. At least it starts from havin’ a talent,” he said. He’s able to say all that, of course, because Shelton himself is good lookin,’ muscley and has the voice.
