Kellie Pickler will travel to Indianapolis to perform the opening song for the 500 Festival parade, one of the major events leading up to the Indianapolis 500 on May 29. She’s scheduled to perform “Tough,” a still-unreleased single that will appear on her upcoming album. Pickler has been working on the project, her third album, with producer Frank Liddell, whose credits include Miranda Lambert’s three albums. The parade takes place May 28. More than 300,000 spectators are expected to line the two-mile parade route to see the 33 starting drivers of the 2011 Indianapolis 500 and more than 80 specialty units, floats, marching bands, giant inflatable balloons and costumed characters. The 500 Festival was created in 1957 to organize civic events celebrating the Indianapolis 500.
