OFFSTAGE: Sit on Zac Brown’s Front Porch

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I’ve never spent any time on a front porch like this one. One with a private staff feeding me grilled beef tenderloin, horseradish encrusted grouper, pocketknife slaw, jive turkey collard greens and chocolate peanut butter biscuit pudding, all while I listen to country music. But that’s the kind of guy Zac Brown is. If he’s going to have a sweepstakes that puts a couple of lucky winners in this “Front Porch Stagebox,” then he’s going to do it right. With free drinks, private bathrooms, and elevated seating really close to the stage. It’s all happening on June 10 in central Illinois. And by “central,” I mean the absolute middle of nowhere at the Three Sisters Park on Goose Lake in Chillicothe. If you want to win, you have to enter quickly — by Thursday (May 26). You will get a trip for two to this little town, including airfare, ground transportation, hotel, the great seats I mentioned and all that Southern cuisine prepared by Brown’s chef, Rusty Hamlin, on his custom-built mobile kitchen they have affectionately named “Cookie.” Good luck. And please bring me back some of the pudding.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
