OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood Gives Idol Finalists Her Number

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Carrie Underwood is positively raving about how normal everyone in country music is. “I think it is the least affected genre of music. It’s real people. These people really are the most normal people you could possibly ever hope to be around. They’re your neighbors, they’re your friends, they’re people you work with,” she tells Fox All Access. “They just stay normal. They are not doing anything weird for attention. They’re just cool people that are extremely talented. People want that.” Then she starts in on how great the fans are, too. “They are so loyal. They’re so happy and fun and energetic. And we’re friends,” Underwood adds. But at the end, she answers a question about the advice she’d give to Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, the winner and runner-up from this season’s American Idol. “It really doesn’t matter who wins. You guys are both gonna come to Nashville and take it by storm. All I can do is give them my number and just be there,” she says.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
