OFFSTAGE: What Keith Urban Needs

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

The banjo, I understand. He’s Keith Urban, so of course he’d want a banjo around all the time when he is on tour. “Banjo goes on everything — it’s a bit like whipped cream, really,” he told Entertainment Weekly. But he also fessed up to his other must-haves on his upcoming summer tour. “I have an old Sony ghetto blaster from the ’80s that I got on eBay a long time ago,” he said, saying that he likes to sit on deck chairs under the bus awning and crank mix tapes. He also likes to bring a motorcycle, either a Harley that Kenny Chesney gave him or a ’60s Matchless. And he is a happy camper if he can get some Milo’s Famous Sweet Tea. And lastly, he brings a pink a Frisbee when he’s on the road. “My worry about playing basketball or something is busting fingers. I think Frisbees are safer. Of course, here I am rockin’ around on a motorcycle worrying about safety, but there you go,” Urban said.
