OFFSTAGE: Trace Adkins’ Daughter Saves Dogs, Wins PETA Award

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Remember Brianna Adkins her from her father’s 2006 video for “Ladies Love Country Boys”? She was adorable back then in Trace‘s video, and now at only 9 years old, she is still winning hearts with her recent act of heroism. When the Adkins family home in Brentwood, Tenn., was going up in flames on June 4, Brianna had safely escaped when she realized her two dogs were still inside. So she convinced a neighbor to come with her, and they went back in to save the dogs. And for that, PETA thanks her. They have given Brianna their Compassionate Action Award, and their spokesperson said, “Thanks to the heroic actions of Brianna Adkins, her family’s beloved dogs survived the fire and are alive and well. Her heroism is a compelling reminder that all members of the family — including dogs, cats and other animals — deserve help in an emergency.” Her reward is a PETA certificate, some vegan chocolates and, I’m sure, the eternal gratitude of her dogs and her family.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
