OFFSTAGE: Blake Shelton Says Miranda Lambert Is His Rock

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Sure, there were the good old days when Blake Shelton stayed out drinking until 7 a.m., would wake up at noon and eat pizza. But now that he’s older, wiser and crazy in love with his new wife Miranda Lambert, he told Us magazine he just grew tired of all that. “Now if I want to go drinking, I only want to sit at the house with Miranda watching Snapped on TV at home,” he said. “It’s crazy because even if I’m just out on her bus while she’s on the road or watching her do her shows, I’m 100 percent comfortable because she is there. She really is that rock for me and the center of all of this.” Awww. So sweet. So romantic. And, honestly, so surprising coming from a man who still tweets like he’s a 15-year-old boy. (Recent ones include, “I’m so drunk right now I just nut slapped an Arizona state police officer” and “Why the hell doesn’t any Amish people follow me?!!”) Shelton says it’s Lambert who made him, in a sense, grow up into a normal adult. But he has no regrets about his pre-Lambert days. “I was a single male country singer raising hell, going out after concerts to bars and drinking and doing whatever I wanted. And why the hell not? I wouldn’t take it back, either,” says Shelton.
