Hazel Smith's Hot Dish Recipe of the Week

Hazel’s Cake
(So good I named it!)

¼ cup melted butter
1 ½ cups pecans
1 ½ cups coconut
1 (18 ½ ounce) box German chocolate cake mix
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
½ cup butter
1 pound confectioners’ sugar

Preheat oven to 350°.

Use ¼ cup melted butter to grease a 9 x 13 baking dish. Add pecans and coconut. Prepare cake mix according to ingredients on the box. Spread prepared batter over pecans and coconut. Melt cream cheese, ½ cup butter and confectioners’ sugar in a saucepan, stirring to blend. Pour over batter.

Bake in a 350° oven for 1 hour or until brown. Don’t let it bake too long.
