"You're not Kid Rock. You're Nerd Rock." That was the epiphany Jon Stewart had when Kid Rock joined him Tuesday night (July 12) on The Daily Show. They'd been talking about a rally they did together, and Stewart was imitating a conversation they'd had and how shockingly technically-proficient Rock was. "I used to sweep floors in a recording studio. They'd let me use the back room at midnight," Rock explained about how he became such an expert on the behind-the-scenes stuff. But when Stewart asked him which part he loves the most -- being onstage or producing -- Rock said his favorite part is "just a guitar and a campfire. Some beer helps." Then they joked about what it was like being on tour with Sheryl Crow ("Show's over, and here comes Sheryl with the whiskey") and talked about everything Kid Rock is doing to help out his struggling hometown Detroit. After all that, Stewart wraps the interview by saying, "We have unmasked and outed Kid Rock tonight as a responsible, caring, diligent, professional parent. And in the process, totally f***ed your career."
