CMT’s 20 Greatest Men Debuts Wednesday

Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, George Strait, Keith Urban Among Contenders

CMT is honoring 20 of country music’s top male artists from the past two decades in an all-new special, What’s Your 20? 20 Greatest Men, 20 Years . The two-hour countdown show will debut on Wednesday (Aug. 10) at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The special features all-new exclusive interviews with some of the honorees, including Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean and Keith Urban and several of their female counterparts, including Taylor Swift, Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert. The show will rank the men according to fan voting on

“For me, Keith Urban is my go-to for when I want a happy song,” Swift says. “No one does those songs like him. It’s just like he knows how to make you want to get up and dance and make a song that expresses exactly how love should feel.”

Meanwhile, McBride says, “George Strait, I think, will go down in history as just one of the greatest country artists of all time.”

Lambert speaks about her husband Blake Shelton, saying, “I’m glad people are starting to really notice, and his career is starting to kick into gear more than it ever has because people are starting to go, ’Wow, why did we overlook this guy?'”

Sara Evans says, “Nobody can say that Kenny Chesney didn’t work his butt off for everything that he has. I mean, he worked for every single until he got to the point where he was an automatic add at radio. I admire him so much for that.”

While talking about Alan Jackson, Joe Nichols notes, “Just as far as the modern era goes, I don’t think there’s a more perfect country traditional country singer or writer. To be able to connect in a Merle Haggard way to the common man and write song after song about just regular things, regular life and have success, I think he’s one of the best.”

In addition to the men listed above, the special also pays tribute to Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Randy Travis, Hank Williams Jr. and the Zac Brown Band.
