Kenny Chesney Breaks NYC's Country Concert Record

Kenny Chesney set a new record for country music concerts in the New York City/New Jersey area on Saturday (Aug. 13). With an estimated attendance of 55,000 fans at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the concert broke the former record, set by a 1983 festival featuring Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Linda Ronstadt at Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands. Along with performances by the Zac Brown Band and Billy Currington, Chesney's guests on Saturday included New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher and New York Jets coach Rex Ryan. Chesney also made a surprise appearance on Sunday to sing "You and Tequila" with duet partner Grace Potter at the Grand Point North Festival in Burlington, Vt.
