OFFSTAGE: Dierks Bentley Fan Proposes With “My Last Name”

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Of all the romantic country songs you could use to back your marriage proposal, Dierks Bentley has pretty much the best one ever. I mean, the proposal is right there in the lyrics, after the parts about fighting and blood and wars and dog tags. “So darlin’ if you’re wonderin’ why I’ve got you here tonight/I wanna be your husband, I want you to be my wife/I ain’t got much to give you but what I’ve got means everything/It’s my last name.” What girl in her right mind could say no to that? Especially when you are sitting on Bentley’s bus, and your betrothed is sitting next to Bentley, and they are singing those words together? That’s exactly what happened last week in Montana after a fan in Bentley’s meet-and-greet sweet-talked him into helping him pop the big ol’ question. “Hopefully, we’ll make his night, hopefully make his year, hopefully make his life,” Bentley says in his DBTV video right before the couple joins him. From the looks of things, it worked.
