'American Idol' Finalist Bucky Covington Cleared of Theft Charge

All charges have been dropped against American Idol finalist Bucky Covington in connection with Florida concert promoter's allegation he stole $1,500 at a June 30 concert. The promoter, William Fuller, filed a complaint with the Volusia County sheriff's department after contracting Covington to perform at the Iron Horse Saloon near Ormand Beach, Fla. During the event, Fuller was rushed to the hospital and left his employees in charge of the cash being collected at the concert. One of Fuller's employees claimed Covington was involved in taking money collected at the venue's front gate. The sheriff's department referred the case to the Florida State Attorney General's office to investigate the grand theft allegation. The Attorney General's office has now ruled "there was insufficient evidence to prove the charges against Mr. Covington beyond a reasonable doubt at trial."
