Tracy Lawrence’s Disorderly Conduct Charge Dismissed

Tracy Lawrence will not be charged with a minor misdemeanor after an accusation of disorderly conduct was dropped on Monday (Aug. 29) in municipal court in Tiffin, Ohio. As previously reported, the charges were filed after a dispute between the singer and concert promoter Elmer Cole Jr. at Smokin’ Country Concert in Bloomville, Ohio, on Aug. 6. The argument stemmed from a delay in moving Lawrence’s tour bus from a parking area because it was stuck in mud. The fight was over by the time deputies arrived. Both men were treated and released at a local hospital. The case was dismissed because the charges could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, according to court documents. The Advertiser-Tribune newspaper in Tiffin cited a court memorandum which stated, “If the charge of disorderly conduct were prosecuted, defendant would successfully claim self-defense, and the state would be unable to secure a conviction at trial.”
