Dixie Chicks, Willie Nelson Scheduled for Fire Relief Concert in Texas

The Dixie Chicks, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Asleep at the Wheel are part of an all-star cast performing during Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas taking place Oct. 17 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Hosted by Kyle Chandler, star of NBC’s Friday Night Lights, and writer-actor Turk Pipkin, the concert will also feature guest appearances by Shawn Colvin, the Court Yard Hounds, Steve Miller, the Texas Tornados and guitarists Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani. All proceeds will go to the Central Texas Wildfire Fund at the Austin Community Foundation in its efforts to assist families dealing with long-term problems stemming from wildfires which ravaged the area this summer. The fires in Bastrop County, about 25 miles east of Austin, hit more than 34,000 acres, killing two people, destroying nearly 1,600 homes and causing an estimated $250 million in damage. Concert tickets, priced at $25-$250, go on sale Friday (Sept. 23).
