Steel Magnolia Member Enters Rehab

Status of Tour Dates Unclear Following Joshua Scott Jones' Announcement

Joshua Scott Jones, a member of the Steel Magnolia, is seeking treatment at a substance abuse rehab facility, he announced Thursday (Sept. 29) on the duo's official website.

"God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility to address issues related to alcohol and substance abuse," he wrote. "Hundreds of thousands of people in the world struggle with these battles daily. Therefore, I am sincerely grateful for all thoughts and prayers at this very poignant juncture in my life and career. I would also like to thank my family, friends, record label and management team for being so supportive and having an active hand in my recovery process."

In a Sept. 23 message on the website, Meghan Linsey, Jones' singing partner, announced they were canceling a handful of shows because he was unable to perform. According to The Associated Press, Linsey began performing the tour dates alone on Sunday (Sept. 25).

Contacted by CMT.com, a publicist for Big Machine Records, the act's record label, would not say whether any concert dates have been canceled or if Linsey will be appearing at the shows as a solo act.

"Meghan's post [of Sept. 23] is the only comment we will have regarding their performances," the publicist said.

According to the duo's website, they have a full touring schedule throughout October and November, including a Friday show in Oklahoma at the Tulsa State Fair.

After winning the second season of CMT's talent competition series, Can You Duet, in 2009, Steel Magnolia signed to Big Machine and released a string of singles, including the Top 10 hit, "Keep On Lovin' You." They are nominated in the vocal duo category at the upcoming CMA Awards.
