OFFSTAGE: The Band Perry’s Kimberly vs. Emma Stone in Bottega Veneta

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

In a way, The Band Perry already won. They were the only country act to perform on Sunday night’s (Nov. 20) American Music Awards . A lot of trophies were given out, but only The Band Perry got the real prize — a chance to share their kind of country music with the audience. They did their break-out hit “If I Die Young.” They were nominated for country album and new artist awards and were beaten by Taylor Swift’s Speak Now and Hot Chelle Rae, respectively. But here is where the competition is getting fierce — the morning-after, post-awards fashion analysis. Us magazine has the band’s frontgirl Kimberly up against actress Emma Stone for their Who Wore It Best poll. So if you love Perry in her red-carpet-worthy Bottega Veneta lace dress with strappy Prada sandals and a classy clutch, go vote.

Fun fact: Hot Chelle Rae aren’t a country band, but they’re from Nashville, and lead guitarist Nash Overstreet is the son of Paul Overstreet, who co-wrote Kenny Chesney’s “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy.” And the band’s Ryan Follese (lead vocals) and his brother Jamie (drums) are the sons of Keith Follese, who helped pen Faith Hill’s “The Way You Love Me.”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
