OFFSTAGE: A Family Videos Countdown, CMT Style

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Let’s all hold hands and go around the table and say what we’re most thankful for. Oh, wait. That might be hard to pull off with all of our readers being scattered all over the world. But no matter where you are during Thanksgiving weekend, I’m guessing your No. 1 blessing is your family. As much as we all complain about family from time to time, you’ve got to admit that life’s better with husbands, wives, sons, daughters, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, kids, nieces, nephews, grandparents and beyond. So CMT is celebrating said family with a countdown of the Top 30 Family Videos. You probably have a few of your favorites, as do I. I’m not sure what’s on the list, but I hope they all make it into the countdown. Some of the best ones are ones that don’t even come out and say “I love my family,” but do it in more subtle ways, like Chris Young’s “Voices” or Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me.” Then there are ones about strong marriages, like Lee Brice’s “Love Like Crazy” and Brad Paisley’s “He Didn’t Have to Be,” and even good ones about marriages that are over, like the Zac Brown Band’s “Highway 20 Ride.” Then, there are all the videos about having kids. Like the ones that celebrate unexpected babies, ones that encourage growing up a little slower and ones that paint an honest picture of life with teenagers. Top 30 Family Videos airs Thursday (Nov. 24) from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET/PT, followed by Friday (7-10:30 a.m.) and Saturday and Sunday (6:30-10 a.m.). Which videos are you hoping to see?
