OFFSTAGE: Miranda Lambert Gets 'Law & Order' Acting Role

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

"In the criminal justice system, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous." That's the way each episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit begins. Miranda Lambert will be featured on an upcoming episode of the show alongside elite squad of Ice-T, Mariska Hargitay and Dann Florek. In a major acting role, she'll be portraying an actress who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a reality show producer. That producer, who will be innocent until proven guilty in the Law & Order courtroom, will be played by Micheal McKean (who played Lenny on Laverne and Shirley for about seven years and also starred as metal musician David St. Hubbins in the 1984 film, This Is Spinal Tap). And there's also word that on that same episode, Harry Connick Jr. will play a love interest for Hargitay's character. But Connick or not, Lambert sounds thrilled to be part of the show. "Yall I'm so freaking excited to be on my favorite show ever !!!" she tweeted.
