CMT Blog: Dolly Parton's 'Joyful Noise' Marks Return to the Big Screen

It's been 20 years since Dolly Parton starred in a movie, but thank God, she's back in a film that shows off her two biggest assets -- her sharp comedic wit and her music, of course! Joyful Noise opens in theaters Friday (Jan. 13) and stars Dolly and Queen Latifah as rivals in a small-town choir in Georgia out to win a national singing competition. The entire cast showcase their incredible singing chops throughout the film which features hits from artists as diverse as Paul McCartney to Michael Jackson to Chris Brown. But Dolly gives the film its original music. One of the highlights is "From Here to the Moon," which she wrote for her husband of 45 years, Carl Dean. (Try to name another superstar who has been married for that long.) If that's not enough to make you want to listen, she performs it with fellow country icon Kris Kristofferson. It's a win-win! The soundtrack is available now, and to find out more about "From Here to the Moon" and Dolly's part in the making of Joyful Noise, watch this exclusive video and shout "amen" for more Dolly.
