Merle Haggard Hospitalized for Pneumonia, Cancels January Tour Dates

Country Music Hall of Fame member Merle Haggard is being treated for pneumonia in Macon, Ga., and has canceled the remainder of his January tour dates, The Associated Press reports. The 74-year-old singer-songwriter has been ill since leaving his California home last week, a spokesman said. Haggard canceled a Tuesday night (Jan. 17) show in Macon and Wednesday’s appearance in Columbus, Ga. Other tour dates have been canceled in Kentucky, Mississippi, Texas and Oklahoma. Haggard underwent surgery for lung cancer in 2008 and resumed touring in 2009.
