(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
Two themes keep popping up in this CBS interview with Jason Aldean . One, he loves the crazy fans. And two, he will not get lazy. Here’s what I mean. When the questions are about what he sees when he takes the stage during one of his big, rowdy arena shows, Aldean says things like, “I think as the show goes on, there’s people that catch your eye — people [who are] having fun. They’re crazy, so you’re immediately kind of are drawn to those people” and “If you come out and people are going crazy, that immediately lights a fire under you.” And then when the questions are about how it feels to have finally made it to the top, Aldean basically says he’s not going to ever think like that. “I never kind of want to feel that way. If you start to feel like you’ve accomplished everything you can accomplish, you start to get lazy,” he says. “And when you start to get lazy, there’s somebody there that’s waiting to take your spot.” That is so true. Guys like Aldean never forget that. He even says that before he moved to Nashville he was delivering Pepsi to convenience stores. Being a country singer was just his backup plan.
