Did you wonder why Carrie Underwood had her hair in a scrunchie, mesh gloves on her arms and plastic pearls around her neck this weekend? I did. It’s so not like her to look so 29 years ago. But she must love the ’80s, because she was celebrating her 29th birthday the ’80s way . Underwood, who was born in 1983, first thanked all of her 134,000-plus Twitter followers for the birthday messages on Saturday (March 10). “It’s been a great day so far! You all are so good to me!,” she wrote. Then later, she even tweeted a couple of pictures from the surprise theme party some pals threw for her. “Best. Birthday. Ever!” and “Had to share another pic from my surprise ’80’s bday party — so fun!!” What I wonder is if her friends took the theme into the country world and had a party playlist that included Alabama, Janie Fricke, Lee Greenwood, Jim Glaser and Gus Hardin, who were a few of the big winners at the country music awards shows the year she was born.
