Blake Shelton, Lionel Richie Among Collaborations Planned for ACM Awards

Several musical collaborations, including a duet by Blake Shelton and Lionel Richie, will highlight the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards show taking place this weekend at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Shelton and Richie will perform “You Are,” the opening track from Richie’s new album, Tuskegee, a collection of duets with prominent country artists. Richie’s solo recording of “You Are” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s adult contemporary chart in 1983. Although Steve Martin did not play on Rascal Flatts’ current single, “Banjo,” he will join the band onstage at the awards show to display his skills on the five-string instrument. Additionally, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw will sing a yet-to-be-announced song, and Toby Keith will be joined by several surprise guests for a performance of his hit, “Red Solo Cup.” The ACM Awards air Sunday (April 1) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
