Keith Urban accepted an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday night (April 10) during the All for the Hall benefit concert in downtown Nashville.
Urban was surprised with a black bag presented to him as a gift. When he opened it, he discovered a Grand Ole Opry microphone inside.
“How beautiful to have this happen tonight,” he told the audience at the Bridgestone Arena. “This means the world to me.”
Urban and Gill assembled an all-star lineup for the show, which included surprise appearances by Country Music Hall of Fame members Merle Haggard and Don Williams. The concert is a fundraiser for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
As previously reported, this year’s event featured performances from Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Pistol Annies, The Band Perry, the Oak Ridge Boys, Little Big Town, Thompson Square, Diamond Rio and Blue Sky Riders.
“There’s an enormous amount of duos and groups that have been signed in the last handful of years, and I wanted to feature them and also remind people of the rich history we’ve got of groups and bands in this genre, too,” Urban told CMT.com on Monday.
