CMT Blog: Florence + the Machine Cover a Country Classic

Until now we've never heard any country influence from Florence + the Machine's Florence Welch. For MTV's Unplugged, though, she invited Queens of the Stone Age front man Josh Homme out for a classic country duet.

Welch, a British singer-songwriter, crossed the pond only a few years ago. Since then she's stunned crowds on the festival circuit as well as on late night TV. She's known for infusing her indie pop with elements of rock and soul.

Homme is a giant in the rock world himself (figuratively and literally), so hearing their take on Johnny and June Carter Cash's "Jackson" is interesting in a parallel-universe kind of way. Plus, it's really respectfully done. The rockers slow the song down but don't leave any of the original playfulness out -- or add any weird instruments.
