CMT will debut two new reality series, Jennie Garth: Little Bit Country and Melissa & Tye, on Friday night (April 20).
Twenty years ago, Jennie Garth moved from Urbana, Ill., to Los Angeles to pursue acting and promptly took the Hollywood world by storm as one of the breakout stars of Beverly Hills 90210. Now she is in search of a simpler life as she moves her family to a seven-acre farm in the countryside of central California, where she hopes to put the pressures of Hollywood aside and experience a new way of life.
Jennie Garth: Little Bit Country will air on CMT at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
After appearing on The Bachelor, Melissa Rycroft became a popular contestant on Dancing With the Stars, which ignited a TV hosting career. Yet her greatest success came when she reconnected with the “real” man of her dreams, hometown boyfriend Tye Strickland. Now married with an infant daughter, Rycroft is moving from Texas to Los Angeles to pursue her Hollywood dreams.
Melissa and Tye: A New Reality will air on CMT at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
In related news, the fourth season of CMT’s The Singing Bee begins Friday at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Blending a mix of country music with popular favorites from other genres, The Singing Bee tests contestants’ knowledge of lyrics to well-known songs. The show is hosted by comedian Melissa Peterman.
