OFFSTAGE: See a Keith Urban Made of Japanese Wax and Beeswax

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Keith Urban has been so busy coaching on The Voice in Australia, tweeting things like, “Kicking myself for not pushing my button! This is much harder than it looks!” and “Powerhouse vocals from Diana and SO much groove!!! Pumped to have her on #TeamKeith!!!” So he must have forgotten to tell us that he has been waxed. Madame Tussauds wax museum just opened in Sydney, Australia, and they have a Keith Urban figure that took 60 artists about 800 hours to make. And, just like the other figures, he is worth $220,000. If you go to the museum in Darling Harbour, please let us know how he looks when you’re up close and personal. He’s reportedly wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans and holding a black guitar, but it will be interesting to see if it looks like the real thing. Fun fact: It took more than 1,750 kilograms of Japanese and bee’s wax — the equivalent to 10,294 tea light candles — to make this collection of over 70 figures at the Sydney museum.
