A major country music festival in Louisiana and a significant bluegrass festival in Maryland highlight the music offerings during the Memorial Day weekend.
The Bayou Country Superfest is set for Saturday and Sunday (May 26-27) at Tiger Stadium on the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge. Saturday’s lineup includes Jerrod Niemann, Little Big Town, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, while Sunday’s schedule features Joe Nichols, Sara Evans, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts.
Musicians started tuning up Thursday (May 24) for Del McCoury’s Delfest, an event that runs through Sunday in Cumberland, Md. In addition to the Del McCoury Band, the lineup includes Steve Martin & Steep Canyon Rangers, the Yonder Mountain Stringband, Leftover Salmon, the Emmitt-Nershi Band, Keller Williams, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Bela Fleck and the Travelin’ McCourys.
Trace Adkins performs Sunday in Washington, D.C., during the National Memorial Day Concert airing live on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol at 8 p.m. ET. Co-hosted by actors Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, other musical guests include Daughtry and Natalie Cole.
As previously reported, Tim McGraw will perform a kick-off show at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Monday (May 28) during a Memorial Day event coinciding with the annual Fleet Week.
And Country Music Hall of Fame member Loretta Lynn performs Saturday at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.
