Elvis Presley’s Former Crypt Being Auctioned

A crypt that briefly housed Elvis Presley’s body following his death in 1977 is one of the items up for bid during a June 23 auction hosted by Julien’s Auctions of Beverly Hills, Calif. The annual Music Icons auction also includes the late John Lennon’s spare suit from the Beatles’ film A Hard Day’s Night and the robe the late Amy Winehouse wore in her “Rehab” music video. Other Presley items include a gold and diamond medallion given to the singer in Las Vegas. The crypt is located at Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Presley’s body was housed in the mausoleum¬†for two months while the family waited for permits to be approved to move his body — and the body of his mother, Gladys — to the gardens at his longtime home, Graceland. Bidding on the crypt starts at $100,000.
