Jason Isbell, Gillian Welch Lead Nominations for Americana Music Honors and Awards

Hayes Carll, Justin Townes Earle Join Them as Artist of the Year Candidates

Gillian Welch, Jason Isbell, Hayes Carll and Justin Townes Earle received nominations for the Americana Music Association’s artist of the year on Thursday (May 31).

Isbell and Welch are the leading nominees across all categories, with three nominations each. Alabama Shakes, Steve Earle, Dave Rawlings and Punch Brothers’ Chris Thile earned two nominations each.

The nominees were revealed at a press conference in Los Angeles hosted by actor-musician John C. Reilly. Shelby Lynne and Lucinda Williams performed at the event.

The Americana Honors and Awards ceremony will be held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Sept. 12. In addition, the Americana Music Festival and Conference will take place in Nashville on Sept. 12-15.
