OFFSTAGE: Zac Brown Tests My Balance

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

You may not know this about Zac Brown. But along with his signature knit beanie, a lot of ink and a few manly bracelets, he also wears a power band. It’s one of those rubber wristbands with embedded holograms to help with your energy fields and healing frequencies. The power band is supposed to improve your balance, strength and flexibility. There are plenty of skeptics who will tell you otherwise, but Zac Brown and I are believers.

When I ran into him backstage at the CMT Music Awards rehearsals a couple of weeks ago, we compared notes on the bands. Even though I wasn’t wearing mine at the time, we both agreed there’s just something about them that makes things better. He asked me if anyone had ever given me the balance test. When I said no, he asked me to hold my arms straight out in front of me, so I did. He then pressed down on my hands and I fell forward.

Then Brown put his power band on my wrist and did the test again. And voila. I did not fall forward. I realize this was not a very scientific test, but it’s hard to argue with results that are quite literally right there in front of you. And now that I’m back to wearing mine every day, I’m hopeful that more good things will continue to happen. Like that the 16 days between now and Zac Brown Band’s new album Uncaged release will fly by.
