On one hand, Lucy Hale is the perfect girl to make country music. She’s young and beautiful, has a powerful voice and is from Tennessee. But on the other hand, the world may find it hard to see past Hale’s dark character on the teen mystery series, Pretty Little Liars. She plays Aria Montgomery, who is having an affair with her English teacher and is being cyber-bullied by some secretive texter named A. Come to think of it, all that drama might just work. Hale told MTV she couldn’t be more excited to make a country/pop record. “I grew up in Tennessee, so that’s always been my heart and soul,” she said. “It’s hard to come across a true country fan in L.A., but it’s true that the fans are so loyal, once you’re in their circle, you’re in for your entire career. It just really speaks to me. Country music has so much soul and is so heartfelt. I think it’s a perfect fit for me. I think it will surprise people.” And when they asked Hale what her music might be like, she responded, “A Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood-ish hybrid?” That sounds pretty.
