Even though it’s Little Big Town singing the hit summer song “Pontoon,” Dierks Bentley’s the one who is out there living it. On the lake with his, well, classically-vintage boat. There’s a non-functioning sink faucet, a worthless smoke detector and carpet embedded with years of mold and fungus. “If you thought Big White (Bentley’s pick-up truck) was in bad shape, let me introduce you to the S.S. Grizzled Veteran,” Bentley says at the helm of his vessel. “This is my pontoon boat/houseboat that I’ve had for 10 to 12 years. I used to live on this boat. It’s in really bad shape.” But despite its shortcomings, Bentley wanted to thank his crew with a lake day aboard the Grizzled Veteran. “I was able to get one engine started,” he says. “And I’m out here, I got a cold Busch Light, I got my captain’s koozie. And this is it.” Tip it on back, indeed.
