OFFSTAGE: Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn and Me

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I knew that one day I’d find something that bonded me with Miranda Lambert and Loretta Lynn. Today is that day. And that bond? Salt and pepper shakers. Lambert recently told The Tennessean newspaper that she collects them and was thrilled to find out Lynn does, too. “My husband [artist id="1164298"]Blake Shelton[/artist] always calls me a mamaw because I collect salt and pepper shakers,” Lambert said. “I have, like, 30 sets. I’m really proud of them. I was at [Lynn’s] house and we went to her museum and she had this huge glass shelf and she had a whole collection of them, like hundreds of them. And I was like, ’You collect salt and pepper shakers, too. Oh my God.'” Which is exactly how I feel right now. I’ve been collecting them since I got a sterling silver and blue glass pair for my wedding, which was about a hundred years ago. So you can imagine how many I have now. Lambert says she is going to get up the nerve to ask Lynn if she’d trade a set. And I’m sure Lynn will say yes. It seems like she’s always been good to her. And Lambert told the newspaper, “She’s special. She has a light around her. She draws you in and she always will. That’s why she’s Loretta Lynn.”
