Jerrod Niemann, Blake Shelton Lead New Releases

Iris Dement, Michael Johnson, Tift Merritt Also Offer New Albums

Jerrod Niemann and Blake Shelton are among the country artists releasing new albums on Tuesday (Oct. 2).

Niemann's Free the Music features his current single, "Shinin' on Me." He spent two years recording the album with his touring band and co-producer Dave Brainard. The album features a duet with Colbie Caillat called "I'm All About You." Niemann's past hits include "Lover, Lover" and "What Do You Want."

Shelton's Cheers, It's Christmas is the singer's first holiday collection. Guests include Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé and Shelton's mother Dorothy Shackleford. He chose some of his favorite classic Christmas songs for the album. Many of the tracks were recorded at the famous Capitol Studios in Los Angeles with full orchestral accompaniment.

Meanwhile, John Denver, Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley are represented on Legacy Recordings' The Classic Christmas Album reissue series.

In addition, two 1952 concerts performed by Hank Williams have been released as Hank Williams: The Lost Concerts Limited Collector's Edition. A rare 1951 radio interview with Williams is also included in the set. Not including his radio performances, these are the only concert recordings by Williams known to exist.

Numerous singer-songwriters are releasing new albums on Tuesday, as well. They include Iris Dement's Sing the Delta, Michael Johnson's Moonlit Déjà vu, Tift Merritt's Traveling Alone, Lindi Ortega's Cigarette's & Truck Stops, Angel Snow's self-titled release and Bill Staines' Beneath Some Lucky Star.

Americana bands with new music include Birds of Chicago's self-titled release, the Giving Tree Band's Vacilador, Goodnight, Texas' A Long Life of Living and the Kingston Springs' self-titled release.
