OFFSTAGE: Keith Urban and Steven Tyler On 'Idol' Feud

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

At last week's New York Film Festival premiere of Nicole Kidman's new film, The Paperboy, Keith Urban was asked about the fight heard 'round the world when he was caught -- literally -- in the middle of a screaming matching between co-judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey at a recent American Idol audition. "I was the UN," he laughed. But being the silver-lining kind of guy that he is, he explained why battles like that one make him love his new gig. "I love it. Look, I love working with passionate people. I love artists. I love everyone just sort of expressing themselves," he said. "It's a very alive and very invigorating work environment. A lot of passion." But former judge Steven Tyler weighed in on the fight, too. And I don't think he and Urban necessarily see eye to eye. When he was asked if the fight was fake, Tyler just said, "Of course. Are you kidding?"
