Kris Kristofferson's 'Feeling Mortal' Set for January Release

Kris Kristofferson's Feeling Mortal, his first album of new material in four years will be released via iTunes on Jan. 22 and will arrive in stores on Jan. 29. It's his third project with producer Don Was, who also produced 2006's This Old Road and 2009's Closer to the Bone. In addition to the new songs, the album also features "My Heart Was the Last One To Know," co-written by Kristofferson and the late Shel Silverstein and previously recorded by Connie Smith. Feeling Mortal also contains "Ramblin' Jack," a tribute to colorful singer-songwriter Ramblin' Jack Elliott. "Ramblin' Jack's one of those people whose whole life was music," Kristofferson said. "He's like William Blake and Bob Dylan and other people who just believed and lived for whatever poetry they could come up with. That's probably the thing I was trying to be." Kristofferson is currently overseas for a European tour that includes a Wednesday night (Nov. 28) concert in Frankfurt, Germany. The tour concludes Dec. 12 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
