OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood Critiques Husband’s Singing

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have been married long enough now, they don’t need to love every single thing about each other. So it makes sense that Underwood might possibly have some tips for Fisher when he’s singing. On Monday night’s (Dec. 3) red carpet at the taping for the CMT Artists of the Year special, Fisher admitted he sings at home, in the car and even in the shower. “I sing a little bit,” he said. “She gets a kick out of it.” And Underwood does. She called his singing “very intense.” But then Fisher admitted, “I have the worst critic in the world critiquing my singing. It’s a little hard, but I get by.” His wife didn’t deny that, but did say if she ever started playing hockey — which is how Fisher makes his living — he could critique her athletic abilities. The 2012 CMT Artists of the Year special premieres Saturday (Dec. 8) at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
