(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
Some of the very best parts of Christmas are the music, the videos, the giving and, in this case, the goodwill. It’s all part of the 25th anniversary of A Very Special Christmas music collections. In those 25 years, thanks to the singers donating their time and talent and industry execs waiving the royalties, the series has raised more than $100 million for the Special Olympics and its athletes. That literally warms my heart. And this year’s music is some of the most festive the artists have ever recorded. On Friday (Dec. 7), Martina McBride’s new video for “Please Come Home for Christmas” premieres exclusively on CMT and CMT.com, and VH1 will do the same with Train’s video for “Joy to the World” and Cheap Trick’s “I Want You for Christmas.” Some of the other artists featured on the latest holiday album are Rascal Flatts (“Mary, Did You Know”), Vince Gill (“Breath of Heaven”), Amy Grant (“Tennessee Christmas”) and Jewel (“Angels We Have Heard on High”).
