OFFSTAGE: Brad Paisley Praises “Professional” Giraffe

Brad Paisley debuted his “Southern Comfort Zone” video Monday (Dec. 10). After a live stream of the video, he went online to take about 20 minutes worth of questions from fans. A few questions were about the giraffe who is licking his guitar in the video, and a couple of other inquiries were about Carrie Underwood. So, of course Paisley tied those two topics together every chance he got. Asked if he’d ever do another duet with Underwood, he joked, “No. She’s horrible to work with. I wouldn’t even think about it.” Then when a fan asks about the giraffe, he raves about him. “That giraffe was very professional. He was actually really a great giraffe. His name I think is Congo, and he was way better than working with Carrie Underwood. He didn’t ever sort of talk back. Even if he had kicked me, it would be still better than working with Carrie Underwood.” And when someone brought up the giraffe vs. Underwood battle again and asks who has better legs, Paisley joked, “The giraffe. Totally.”

The new music video features Paisley running through eight countries in eight days (they flew 10,000 miles to shoot this) for an effect he calls “The Bourne Identity meets Green Acres.” Other topics Paisley covered in the Q&A: He says he looks up to Keith Urban as a guitar player, he ate bone marrow in Paris and it’s fine if fans wants to get his autograph tattooed on themselves. “Sure,” he said. “Nothing says I love you like Hepatitis C.”
