OFFSTAGE: Luke Bryan Says "Good Job, ACM"

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Now that Blake Shelton's ACM Awards co-host has been announced, the said co-host can open up about why he's such a good choice for the job. In a video from the Academy of Country Music, Bryan appears to be enjoying a good book and he says he is just brushing up on a little bit of reading amongst all of his awards in his chamber. (Yes, he said "amongst" and "chamber.") Then he talks about what he will bring to the April 7 party in Las Vegas. "I feel like the ACMs really knew what they were doing when they chose someone like me," Bryan explains. "Someone well-spoken from the South, someone that's maintained their country roots, hadn't move out to L.A. and left us all behind in Nashville, someone that can relate to the fans. And someone that will pick Blake up, keep the show rolling when it may be slipping away from him. So good job, ACM." It's hard to believe that not quite three years ago, in 2010, Bryan took home the ACM Award for top new artist.
