OFFSTAGE: How Do You Move to “Pontoon”?

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

This cannot be right. Every year, Marco Promotions , a company in Nashville, ranks country dance club tunes and makes a list of the songs that people most love shaking their badonkadonks to. But the top of this most recent list is full of some pretty slow songs. Not ballad slow, but slow enough that I can’t picture people dancing to them at all. I mean, I love the songs. I just wouldn’t hit the dance floor when they came on. These seem to me to be more like singalong-while-you-holler-and-swaller songs. But the 250 club owners, DJs and dance instructors they surveyed can’t be wrong. Right?
