OFFSTAGE: More Keith Urban and John Travolta Duets, Please

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

One duet just isn't going to be enough. Hearing one minute of Keith Urban singing with John Travolta just makes me long for more. I was shocked at how well their voices sounded together. They're singing the Beatles' "Yesterday," and they pull it off in a way that's half "Tonight I Wanna Cry" and half "Summer Nights." Especially on the "I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday" part. Obviously, I wasn't there in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night (Jan. 9) at the "Spirit of Australia" cocktail party, but Travolta and Urban were, to kick off the G'Day USA event that celebrates the U.S.-Australia relationship. "There's a spirit about Australia that I see in our girls, even though they were born in Nashville," Urban said. "Strangely enough, Nic was born in Hawaii, and I was born in New Zealand. But we were fully raised in Australia. All our childhood memories are Aussie. So I can see there is a particular spirit in our house that the girls have without having been raised there."
