“Welcome, Brave Girl. Keep your head high and your heart open.” That’s the gist of the new Keds campaign featuring Taylor Swift . And why did the company choose her? “We thought about who would be Brave Girl No. 1,” the company president told The New York Times . And for them, that was Swift. When Keds started doing consumer research, they discovered that heroes are important to their target audience. So enter Swift. Company executives think she’s the perfect role model and that she is a bit of a braveheart herself . “If you’re lucky enough to be different from everyone else, don’t change to be the same,” Swift says in the ads. She also advises girls to try things, say hi, laugh a lot, mess up, apologize, hug people and so on. Probably all things you can do with or without specific footwear, but I still love the idea of anyone who encourages girls of all ages to be their best selves.
